Dear Valued Client,

As a result of the expansion of the BMSB throughout Europe, heightened seasonal measures were implemented between the 1st September 2018 to the 30th April 2019 to prevent infestation throughout Australia

This included the targeting of "high-risk goods" from certain countries, which were subject to increased inspections, treatment and fumigation.

Heading into the 2019-2020 BMSB season, as of the 1st September 2019, the following changes will be implemented:

  • High Risk countries will expand from 9 to 32 (shown below), as well as increased vessel surveillance for Japan.

  • Compulsory offshore treatment for freight of all kinds (FAK) containers and less than container load (LCL) consignments of targeted high risk goods.

  • Additional pre-arival reporting will continue for all general cargo vessels, and surveillance will be increased on all roll-on/roll-off (RO-RO) vessels.

Should you have any further questions or concerns relating to this matter, please feel free to contact us at any time.

Best regards,
